The U.S. environmental industry grew 6.2% in 2006, its third consecutive year of over 5% growth. The environmental industry amounted to $282.1 billion in revenues in 2006 for the roughly 30,000 private companies and at least twice as many public sector entities in the business of selling environmental services, equipment, or resources.
This annual overview issue of EBJ presents our comprehensive set of environmental industry statistics by segment, including survey results, revenues, growth, and a forecast for 2007-2010. This review also includes assessments of the following specific segments: a preliminary assessment of the 2007 consulting & engineering business, current condition in hazardous waste management, a complete section on environmental testing labs with top firms and market breakdowns, and a view of the UK environmental consulting business.
