Susan Dell Orto is a consultant in ZweigWhite’s Chicago office and is a member of the Strategic Advisory Services group. Susan specializes in strategic business planning with a focus on marketing and human resource strategy. As a management consultant and project manager, Susan works with AEC firms to design strategic business plans focused on propelling firm success. In this role, Susan conducts comprehensive management audits and assists clients with strategic planning initiatives. She also advises AEC firm leaders on issues related to strategic human resources management, including recruitment and retention strategy, performance appraisal systems, employee rewards and recognition programs, and compensation. In this role, she has experience conducting audits of clients’ human resources functions, benchmarking firm performance and salaries, and designing and implementing tailored incentive compensation programs. Susan frequently contributes to The Zweig Letter, The Zweig Marketing Letter, and CE News. Prior to joining ZweigWhite, she gained experience as a systems analyst at Ascential Software in Westboro, MA and as a marketing intern at both easyGroup in London, England and U.S. Mills Inc. in Needham, MA. She received her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing from Boston University’s School of Management, where she was a summa cum laude graduate. Michael Zmugg, a consultant based in ZweigWhite’s San Francisco office, assists companies in successfully achieving their strategic business objectives by addressing their human capital and HR operational issues. He functions as a project manager, working with architecture, engineering, and environmental consulting firms nationally to develop and execute human capital strategy, incentive compensation programs, HR operations audits, compensation and benefits analysis, professional development and rewards/recognition systems, performance measurement, recruitment and retention strategies, organizational structure, and leadership transition.
Michael also advises clients on "Best Firm To Work For" practices, conducting employee satisfaction surveys and management audits to evaluate and benchmark an organization's culture, compensation and benefits, professional development, performance and recognition, and recruitment and retention practices with the leading firms in the industry. He is a contributing author to The Zweig Letter, a weekly management newsletter written exclusively for principals and managers of A/E/P and environmental consulting firms; the Human Capital Report; and CE News magazine. Michael also served on the judging panel for the 2006 "Best Structural Engineering Firms To Work For Contest," hosted by Structural Engineer magazine.
